Evolution / Revolution
Grandes Complications
The Evolution 3-1 is the crowing glory of the wide range of worldwide firsts which have forged the brand’s reputation over the years. The originality of this timepiece lies in its tri-axial tourbillon (three axis). Thus in one hour, the time it takes for the first cage to revolve, the tourbillon will have passed through all of the possible positions and will offset any operating variations. The second frame, driven by the first, completes one revolution in eight minutes.
The tourbillon, comprising the escapement and balance wheel, is drawn by the second cage and does a revolution in sixty seconds. Above and beyond the great ingenuity of the design, the real watchmaking connoisseur will appreciate the virtuosity inherent in producing the tourbillon movement. Its flamboyant beauty is the result of one of the most difficult exercises in fine watchmaking.
The Revolution 1 has the distinction of being a flying tourbillon. You simply have to trigger the push button to activate the tourbillon cage which will then rise to the sapphire glass. The tourbillon then remains elevated until the push button is deactivated. When the tourbillon is activated, the hands move to midday, before returning to their position at the exact time, catching up on elapsed time, when you release the push button to deactivate the mechanism. This model, which is a genuine technical feat and holds several patents, is the first in a long series which will build the brand’s reputation as a Master of Complications.
